Pretty Flowers
I finally found some potted ranunculus at the local Home Depot this week and they make me so happy! I spent an afternoon playing with an awesome lens and feeling arty farty - here is what I came up with!

Oh Pottery Barn Kids
How do I love thee? Cannot begin to count the ways! Here is a small sampling of things I either want, need or desire. The sailboat mobile looks completely doable for me and my limited skills!!

Love this photo

My husband is in the US Navy so occasionally I make the effort to visit Navy.mil. Today this photo was on the front page and it took my breath away - just stunning. Love it.

University Village Shopping
Now this was a fun place to shop! All my favorites in one place. My only beef was the Starbucks located across from Pottery Barn Kids (very rude). I spent far too much money here but it was well worth it. We actually walked from Wallingford (Trophy Cupcakes) so I feel all cupcakes were burnt away! Next time I will drive even if that means I will spend more money! Two thumbs up!
Special mention to the delightful lady working at Pottery Barn Kids. She was just wonderful and in a world where we only talk about bad customer service, she was a delight!
UPDATE: I actually decided to email Starbucks and relate my tale of awful service. Within the week, I received a letter of apology and two vouchers for any beverage of my choice. They restored my faith. Thank you Starbucks
Hello Cupcake
After the Museum of Glass, we went across the street to Hello Cupcake - which bills itself as Tacoma's premium cupcake bakery. Very cutesy and the cakes are beautiful! My son thoroughly enjoyed his chocolate, chocolate cupcake and overall, we enjoyed all that we sampled. Again, it was nice to cross it off my list of places to visit. I would go back again if I am in the area, but I am not sure I would go out of my way.
Tacoma Museum of Glass
This was a cool place to visit although not on the day we went! After paying our admission, we wandered around and realized that the majority of exhibits were closed to the public that day! Ever so annoying! We got to see glass being blown and that was pretty much it. Then we were told we were not allowed to photograph any of the glass exhibits due to copyright law! Uhh, I don;t think I will be going home and replicating any of the art I saw. Not sure my oven would allow that to happen! So after talking to an employee, we were allowed to sit in the theater and watch an animated story of how glass and glass art came to be. It was aimed at elementary school children so that was fun! I am not going to say it was a bust and I really want to go back again when it is not overrun with children. I am just not sure it will be anytime soon! The Dale Chihuly bridge that links downtown to the Museum is awesome and has lots of beautiful pieces of glass to admire and photograph!!!
Trophy Cupcakes
One of the places we all wanted to visit was Trophy Cupcakes. It has been on the list of things to do for some time. I finally got to do that this week with my favorite cupcake companion, Aunt Jen. It was a nice excursion and I was happy that the staff were not as rude as I had read in various reviews. It was Saint Patrick's Day when we went so lots of green frostings to choose from. Everything was very beautiful and nicely put together but I was a little disappointed in my choice of cake. The Red Velvet was merely okay. However the Carrot cake that Aunt Jen chose was outstanding as was the tiny cafe au lait. The coffee was okay and the chai latte was awful. All told, it was nice to finally cross it off my list and I am glad I finally got to experience it for myself but I am not sure I would be in any hurry to go back. Oh I also brought home a cake for the husband - a guiness cupcake with Baileys Irish cream buttercream frosting. He gave it a thumbs up and said the frosting was exceptional. It looked awesome too!
Visitors are fun
I love when visitors come to stay! I get to act as tour guide and go to all the places that I feel reluctant to on a normal day! This week my aunt and sister in law came to visit so we got to have lots of fun! Lots of cupcakes, museums and shopping! Yippee for relatives. Oh, I also had someone to do crafty stuff with so added bonus there!

Crazy 8

I am liking this little sister of Gymboree. You can get some pretty great deals on some rather nice clothes. I think the dress and ruffle jacket would be a nice addition to the spring wardrobe of one Alex, and at just $6.99 on sale, the gray corduroy dress will surely keep until next fall.
