pretty disposable cutlery

I love these ice cream scoops. They are made of bamboo so they are earth friendly but they just look so cute. I would like to use them for Owens birthday and then stamp something on the handle to make them more personal. The utensils are also awesome and would also be great for an outdoor party!

Oh Yes,

I can totally see my two children and me enjoying trips around the town on this little beaut!

Paper Boats

The universe is telling me something. I have seen these paper boats and hats in different places of late and I need them. Actually i need to learn to make them and then my world will be complete. I know it is not difficult but I tried origami once and I was absolutely abysmal at it. Hopefully this will be a walk in the park. The images below are just exquisite and I cannot stop looking at them.

Preschool graduation

I have seen lots of graduation events at various preschools around the country. I am not sure if my sons preschool is going down that road (and I am hoping for not as I find it a little silly) but I am ready to go if needed. I think I am going to take these treats on his final day. They are from the always wonderful Bakerella.

Coastal Living Magazine

I guess I am coming way late to this party but after being told to buy an issue a few months ago, I am truly smitten! I just bought the May issue and it is just pure eye candy. There are two homes in the issue that I could happily walk into and take up residence. Lots of inspiration and eye candy. It may be time for a subscription!

A few examples!

Crewcuts dresses

Loving these dresses from Crewcuts by J.Crew. Very simple lines but oh so pretty. Alexandra may be sporting a few of these soon!

The first dress looks almost simple enough for me to attempt but I know better!

More Magic Cabin

I may need to get these books too! Alexandra has joined Owen in a love of all things night sky and planetary! She loves to talk about the planets and the stars and the sun. I see a night in the summer and all of us falling alseep outside under the night sky! The Summer Games and campfire book could help pass a long summer!

Dream House #1

Somewhere in Sweden, this house is for me!!

Bees

There is a large hill beside my house that has little purple flowers all over it. These flowers attract bees and today they were out in full force. I spent the better part of an hour with only the most rudimentary photography skills trying to get a shot of one of those little buggers. They looked so cute and chubby and happy. I know bees are supposed to be in danger right now, but they sure looked happy buzzing around outside my door! Here are the best three! Tomorrow I will try again!

Dreaming of Italy (again)

I go through periods where I am homesick and all I can think of is touching the green green grass of home (Wales). Other times my homesickness extends to my second home - Italy. I think of the colors. The colors that take my breath away. The blues of the sea, the yellows of the lemons hanging on trees everywhere, the red of tomatoes that are truly sun ripened, the white of the freshest mozzarella. I miss the vibrancy of the color. It has been a long winter here in Washington state and that has not helped with the yearnings. So when sickness kicks in, I head to my photo albums and browse through. Or I take to Google and just search for images that ease the pain!

For your pleasure....

Happy Mothers Day

I miss my mother every day. She is so much a part of my daughter and I only wish I could see the two of them together. I am sad that my children are deprived of the worlds greatest grandmother and sad that I do not get to call her with all my questions. But mainly I feel sadness that my mother never saw me become a mother. I only hope she knows how many of her lessons I use every day. I was lucky enough to have the greatest mother in the whole wide world and for that I am grateful.

So to all the wonderful mothers, Happy Mothers Day.

PB Teen

I am loving the latest Pottery Barn Teen catalog (or PB Teen as it prefers to be known). There are so many things in there that are just not for teenagers. In fact, no teenager I have ever met should be allowed in such lovely surroundings, but I digress. Some of my favorite items/rooms....

The armoire just makes me happy. It is big, bright and beautiful. I have been searching for a desk for my daughters room and I am loving both of these but they would have to be in white. They have an option now where you basically build your own desk. Choose the style of legs, the length of the top and even the knobs. That is a great option for me. Finally, the board is just plain awesome. I want one of those in my craft room/office/away from the kids room that will exist in my future home! It would also fit nicely into the closet I currently call my craft room!
I have not even touched on the accessories they have - awesome!

Teacher Appreciation Week

Last week was teacher appreciation week here. I decided to make an effort and ensure that my daughters wonderful teachers were made aware of how much we appreciate them. They are just a group of caring patient professionals who I entrust with the safety and welfare of my precious girl and they never let me down.

I decided to try and take them something every day. Monday did not go so well as I got bogged down in all kinds of stuff but the rest of the week went okay. Tuesday brought doughnuts - all fresh and warm and yummy. Wednesday I took them a big basket of apples with little leaves that I had my daughter sign the back of Thursday I took a tray of chocolate cupcakes topped with Swiss Meringue Buttercream that I died pink! The Friday was all about flowers.

I basically did the drop and run routine so I have no idea how they enjoyed them but I hope that the sentiment came across - We love you Jeanette King and your group of para-educators. Thanks to you and to all teachers.

Sarahs House

I am very happy that I found this show on Fine Living tv. Sarah Richardson (of Design Inc. Room Service etc) basically finds an old crappy house and then renovates it from top to bottom, one room at a time. She is just impeccable and I want to live there so badly! The current season on Fine Living is season 1 and I know there is a season 2 and Sarah's Cottage that followed in Canada. I am hoping that they will be shown here too. Now, how do I get to live so beautifully?

Although all the rooms are amazing, the kids floor just stole my heart. The green she used in the bathroom was just a refreshing change of pace. Also, the entryway makes me so very happy!

I love this too!

I would not be offended if this somehow made its way to my door! The idea of a flower fort just makes me happy! I imagine my two little darlings playing happily while the flowers shade them from the overhead sun! Of course, in that fantasy, Alexandra is wearing a white dress that has no mud, grass or juice stains on it and her hair is in two perfect little buns and Owen is sitting calmly reading a book and not running around the garden like a deranged banshee! A girl can dream!

Magic Cabin is pretty much fail safe for me - there is not too much in the catalog that would disappoint me.
Available here

Love this idea - hanging books

Saw this is in Cookie magazine and I love it. I think I will be using this idea in Owens room as he has suddenly blossomed into a bookworm. (also the gnome table is awesome)
